Julie's Blog Candy

Julie is celebrating her first year of blogging and is offering some fab candy. She has asked that you create an elegant card and make a flower of your own to embellish it. This is my creation, hope it fits the bill.

I used:

Glitter Girls embossing board to create the flower (the card was put through a Cuttlebug Swiss dots folder first)
Cuttlebug folder for the background
Sentiment is HOTP - stamped with a Versamark pad and then chalked
Grosgrain ribbon
Spacer, brad and square beads from stash

I've been a great fan of Julie's cards since discovering her gallery on the Do-craft site. She is a great source of inspiration. If you want to seen some wonderful creations, go check out her blog.

(p.s. I've been neglecting visiting my favourite bloggers recently, I'm struggling a bit to keep up with everything at the moment - poor time management on my part I'm sure - anyway, apologies for this, I haven't forgotten you all.)

Friends

This was such a quick card to make, this gorgeous paper from Dovecraft was all that was needed for the background, a strip of black paper punched on both sides with my Martha Stewart punch, the stamp is a Rubber Romance which I stamped on some textured card to give the dress the look of fabric and coloured with Whispers pens, some ribbon and a couple of handmade roses, and voila, that's it. (oh, forgot to mention the sentiment stamps, the Happy Birthday stamp is by The Stamp Man and the Friends stamp is another Rubber Romance).

This is for my friend Helen who's birthday is on Saturday, hope she likes it.

Something Different

I decided to do something a bit different from the usual cute images I've been using and wanted to do something with the Clarity stamps I've had for ages. I love Barbara's stamps, but been a bit stuck on what to do with them. If any of you have seen Barbara at any of the craft shows you will know she produces amazing cards using a brayer and her stamps to create fabulous scenes, but I've just stuck to background papers and a few embellies for mine. Hope you like it.

This is what I used:

Victorian Lady stamp by claritystamps
Background paper - K&Co
Sentiment stamp - HoTP
Martha Stewart punch
Ribbon - Dovecraft
Flower - Prima
Centre Flower - handmade rose and leaves
Pearl beads from stash
Nestabilities - Scallop Oval and Oval

Special Day

This card started out as an entry into a new challenge I found called sketchandstash, they are offering some great Pollycraft stamps (I want, I want, I want) as a prize this week. Unfortunately, it didn't quite work out according to the sketch, so I'm gonna have to go and start again.
I'm not entirely happy with the colours on this one, I think the outer nestie pink card is too, well too pink really, but I couldn't find anything I prefered, so I stuck with this. This is what I used for the rest of the card:

Nesties
HOTP papers
Elisabeth Bell stamp
Sentiment from K&Co embellishment box
Roses made with Daisy punch
Martha Stewart punch
Pearly coloured beads from stash
Ribbon from stash
Whispers Brush markers

Hope you're having a good week and the weather isn't getting you down too much. Bye for now.x

Spoon Full of Sugar Challenge 37 - Sketch by Tina46

Whoo, Whoo, Whoo, another snow day, no school today. I could get used to this staying at home and crafting. The only down side, I keep raiding the cupboard for munchies (not good when I'm trying to lose a stone!).

I've had a go at the challenge set by aspoonfullofsugar. It's a fab sketch by Tina46 and there's a fab prize on offer from Nutcrafters, sponsors of A Spoon Full of Sugar.

This is my entry and what I used:

Stamp by Elizabeth Bell
Faber Castell pencils
Downloaded papers (Mommy by Doreen Stolz)
Flower from Joanna Sheen
Rose made from a Daisy punch (and instructions from a member of the Do-Craft site)
Sentiment - one I've had for ages and can't remember where from
Leaf Stamp - Habico

This is the last of my new Elizabeth Bells stamps, they're so cute and so easy to use, can't wait for the new ones to come out.

Thanks for looking and hope your keeping warm.x

Pink, Green & Brown

Lucky me got the day off work today cause of the snow - Yippee. (sorry for any of you that have had a horrid few days). Now do you think I got on with some ironing or other such tedious jobs during my unexpected day off? Nah! Course not, I've spent ALL DAY doing my favourite thing, messing about with my lovely craft stuff.

I managed to get my card done for Tara's new challenge blog which you can find here: http://colourcreatechallenge.blogspot.com/. The theme this week is, as you may have guessed from the title pink, green and brown, so here's my card (sorry it's a little dark, it's difficult to find somwhere bright enough to get a decent picture at the mo:

To celebrate the launch, Tara has some fabulous candy for anyone entering a card into this week's challenge, so why not have a go!
This is what I used:

Image stamp by stamposaurus
Sentiment Stamp and Papers - Hot Off The Press
Flowers - Prima
Large punch out daisy - Bigz Die
Brads and spacers from stash

The image was coloured with Whispers Brush Markers. That's it.

Finally, I just want to say well done to the Design Team for their fabulous card, keep up the good work. I'll be looking forward to the next challenge.

Thanks for stopping by and also a big thank you to all those that have left comments on my cards I really appreciate it. x

Tagged!

I've been tagged by Lainy and Poppy. Thank you both.

The rules of this tag are:

1: Go to the 6th folder, in your picture folder and select the 6th picture
2: Post the Picture and an explanation on your blog about it
3: Select 6 others to do the same and let them know

So here's mine:

This is my daughter, Jo, and her friend Louise on their graduation day from Southampton University.

It was a lovely day, the weather was perfect, which was lucky considering we had a rubbish summer and everything went brilliantly. As you can imagine, her dad and I are very proud.

Next, I have to tag six other people to do the same, so here goes:

Sonia, Joey, Michele, Sem, Sally, Lorraine.
