This has given me the opportunity to use my stencils, inks and stamps.  Here's my card:

It was such a quick and easy card to do.  I used a stencil from Imagination Crafts, the sentiment stamp is from Docrafts, the splodges from Laxmi Design (I'm not sure the company still exists - I bought this from the NEC many years ago when I began crafting) and the little butterfly is from an Imagination Crafts set which was designed by Lisa B.

I'm off to make another card - I have an idea what I want to do so I may be back later.

AAA Cards Challenge - Stencilling

Afternoon all, hope you're enjoying the Easter break.  I'm happy to stay in my craft room today - it's so windy outside, and I can't stand the wind. 

Here's what I've been doing:

I decided to dig out some of my old stash - if you're anything like me I buy it because I need it and then put it in a drawer and go on and buy more stuff because I need it.  Anyway, this is my intention for now, to use up some of my stuff.

For this card I used Imagination Crafts stencil paint and one of their embossing masks.  I ran it through my TODO first using a rubber mat also from Imagination Crafts (bought from the NEC earlier this month) which give a deeper impression (I was skeptical about buying this when I saw it but it really does work).  Then obviously I stencilled with the paint.  The sentiment is from a Card-io set.

I am going to enter this into the AAA cards challenge who aptly has a theme of Stencilling this week.

Mother's Day card

Not like me to be so organised, but here's my mom's Mother's Day card.

And not my usual CAS style either.  It made a nice change to get stuck into   some layers and making flowers.  I even made the background card using a neglected stash item.  Anyone else bought one of those Pearl Ex-Press Watercolor Pallette with lovely shimmery paints in duo and interference colours?  I've had one for years and hadn't a clue what to do with it until I watched Sue from Imagination Crafts on QVC a couple of weeks ago using a similar product.

I just wet the paint and spread it across a square piece of card and let it dry.  You can't see from the photo, but it dried lovely and shimmery.  I then used the same leaf stencil I used in my last post but this time I used gold stencil paint.  I also stamped a few script, dots and a kind of cross hatch (using Tea Dye Distress Ink) here and there with a couple of very useful small stamps I bought at the NEC years ago from LAXMI Design.  I don't see them there any more so I don't know if they still exist.

I used my Cameo to cut out the fancy square and layered another nestie square on top after using the computer to do my sentiment - the font's called simply 'English'.

The flowers, butterflies etc. were made using various punches and then I found a tub full of old pearls and used those for the centre of the flowers and butterflies bodies.

I made a boob

with my LIM card in my last post that is!

The theme is a one layer card and I used double sided tape which may or may not be a layer!!! I really never gave it a thought and as the jury is out on it I've made another card to get me off the naughty step.LOL.

The background stripes have been stamped with a Hero Arts stamp and Spun Sugar Distress ink.  I then used a stencil template and some stencil paint for the branches.  The sentiment is from Paula Pascual.

I think I'm liking this....

...stenciling.  I bought another template from Imagination Crafts when I went to the NEC as well as another 8 pots of stencil paint so be prepared to be well and truly sick to the back teeth of this technique.

I saw a sample that one of the ladies had done and loved it. I thought it was soooo pretty I made one similar.

I used the Leaf Swirl template and lime green stencil paint and to add the lovely sparkle I used Magiglaze (finally gotten around to using this, I bought it at the NEC in the spring, again it's from Imagination Crafts) and some extra fine glitter.

I punched the tiny flowers with my EK Success punch and added a gold crystal to the centres.

That's when it went all wrong - I tried to stamp the sentiment directly onto the card and disaster - it smudged!  I was well miffed, as you can imagine so put Silhouette into action and created a mat and re-stamped the sentiment onto it and then mounted it onto foam pads.  Rescued, phew!

A spoon full of sugar Challenge 150 - White and one colour

Hi all! Hope you're enjoying the weekend - what a shame the weather has taken a turn for the worse, although my garden is very grateful for the rain.  The only other compensation is that I've spent some time making some cards instead of gardening.  I usually become a very bad blogger during the summer as my other favourite pastime (gardening) takes over.

I've two cards to show you today.  The first one I'm entering into the aspoonfullofsugarchallenge, the theme is white and one colour.  This was such a quick card to do - I used my new rollagraph wheel and a Prisma pencil (& Sansodor to blend) to colour the blossom and then stamped a Paula Pascqual sentiment.  To finish I added a couple of strips of peel offs.

The layout of my next card was inspired by this card by Kerry.

Back to stencil paint

 This takes me back - stencilling!  It's been a long time since I did any of this, but I saw these templates at the NEC and bought some stencils, stencil paint and some 3D paste. 

This is my first attempt, so it's not perfect, but I like the effect and will keep going to get it right.  I used a digi download for the background. I think it has just the right subtle look.

Below is a close up to try and let you see the raised, textured look it has.

And for the one below, I used just black stencil paint onto gold mirror card (very difficult to photograph).  Both cards were great fun to do.

I think they both look better IRL, but I thought I'd share them with you.

I'm going to enter both of these into the thesecretcraftersaturdaychallenge which has a theme of 'Our feathered friends'.

Less is more

A new challenge has just started this week, called Less is more, which as you all know is my favourite kinda card.  The challenge for this week is black, white and pink - a fab colour combo.

This was so quick and easy to do - I used my rollagraph wheel and Versafine Onyx black of the image at the bottom of the card; some Anna Griffin pink ribbon; a punched out butterfly and a couple of tiny pink crystals and a sentiment stamp by Stampin Up. Voila! Finished.

New Beginnings

I made this card for a wedding reception we went to yesterday. It was the wedding of the son of some friends of ours.  I remember the day he was born! Where do the years go?

I decided to enter it into the allsortschallenge this week.  The theme is 'new beginnings'.

The inspiration for the card came from julie.  I love how the hearts represent the bride and groom.
