First Christmas Card

I know many of you are very organised and start your Christmas cards really early, but I am not one of those people - I'm usually finishing off the last of mine on Christmas Eve.  Not the best idea!  Well, at least I've made a start with this card today.

The stamps are another set from Paula Pascual (you may have noticed from previous posts that I've used some of her sentiment stamps quite a lot lately). I love this set - it's just stylish and gorgeous.

This was such a quick card to make  - I already had the border cut out (using my Silhouette) and the embossed lines done - so the stamping literally took minutes.  I used a Boysenberry Versacolor ink pad to stamp the images and then  a 1" circle punch to cut them out and attached with 3D foam.

It's a plain and simple card, so I'm going to enter it into the allsortschallenge for this week - the theme is 'Plain and Simple'.

A little note

I wasn't at all sure about this card to begin with!

I cut the border with my Silhouette and then added a few score lines - fine up till now.  The problem started when I stamped the image. It's a Dawn Bibby stamp that I bought ages ago when it was part of a TSV and when I stamped it I really didn't like it at all.  However, I did persevere and coloured it with Promarkers and added a Paula Pascual sentiment.

After matting onto some blue cardstock and finishing it off with a ribbon it kinda grew on me.  So, here it is finished - what do you think?

Sooooorry - even more CAS

Sorry, but I'm just rolling these CAS cards off like nobody's business - I  know I keep repeating myself, but I just love how quick it is to make a card in this style.

Having said that, this one did involve making the flower.  I  used my Silhouette and a cutting file from here and a Versacolour ink pad to colour the petals.  I dug out a big tub of pearls that I've had for years in my stash (I bought them from Ideal World when Alan & Barry were presenters - that's how long ago) which I have never quite known what to use them for until a little flash of inspiration the other day.  I used my hot glue gun to stick a pretty pink pearl in the middle of the flower and I think it just finishes it nicely. The background panel if a beautiful Cuttlebug folder matted onto some green card.  The sentiment is again from the Paula Pascual set.

Hope you like it! x

Another CAS

I'm on a bit of a roll at the moment, so better make the best of it before my mojo goes awol, as it so often does.  The CAS cards really are so easy to put together, no planning a layout and trying to colour match, I think this is why it's remaining my favourite style.

This little card took minutes to put together (in fact it probably took longer to try to get a decent photo - I'm such a rubbish photographer).  The sweet little embossed flower is a Cuttlebug folder. The flower centres are large eyelets (from QVC when they were in the sale) and the inner centres are tiny blue brads.

The lovely little sentiment is from my Paula Pascual set of stamps - I love this set.  That's it apart from a bit of green cardstock for matting (I'm not sure it looks green in the picture, but it is - really!).x

At least 3 punches

This week's allsortschallenge. is for a card featuring at least 3 punches.  I'm not sure if my Spellbinders die counts as a punch, but I think I've got the three aside from this.  This is what I used:

Martha Stewart Doily punch
Large EK Success flower punch
Medium EK Success flower punch
Small EK Success flower punch (all three of these made the flower by layering them up)
Yellow Vellum
Cuttlebug embossing folder
Spellbinders Ribbon Tag die
Spellbinders Circle Nesties
Do-crafts brads
Paula Pascual sentiment stamp

I really enjoyed this challenge although it took a lot longer to make this card than the previous CAS cards.

We're off for our usual Saturday night out later -to the pub and then for a curry, so I'm off to get ready now! Enjoy the rest of the weekend. X

Happy Bird-day

This week's one-layer-wednesday challenge is for a single layer of cardstock folded in half with three stamped images and one sentiment, and cutecardthursdays theme is for a card with birds or butterflies on it.  So, I've entered this card into both.

I've rummaged around in my old stamps box again and found this bird stamp. I think the three in a row works quite well.  The sentiment is from the same set. I've used Promarkers to colour the birds in, I'm really loving these and have a long wish list to increase my collection of colours.

I don't think I've got my spacing quite right, but hopefully it's not too noticeable.  Any tips on how to set spacing between images would be appreciated.

That's it for now folks.x

One-Layer Wednesday 19 - B&W with a spot of color

Evening all, hope you're well.  Just a quick post as I'm feeling whacked now I'm back at work.

I found this challenge on Susan Raihala's blog simplicitybylateblossom and had to give it a go. It has to be the quickest and easiest card I've ever made.

As the name suggests, cards have to be one layer (a single piece of cardstock folded in half) and for this particular challenge the theme is for black and white with a spot of colour.

I thought this stamp would be perfect.  I've never used it before - it's from Paper Artsy.  I've simply stamped the image and added some red glaze pen to her lips.  I then stamped the sentiment which is from a set designed by Paula Pascual and that's it!  Hope you like it.x

New Beginnings

I made this card for a wedding reception we went to yesterday. It was the wedding of the son of some friends of ours.  I remember the day he was born! Where do the years go?

I decided to enter it into the allsortschallenge this week.  The theme is 'new beginnings'.

The inspiration for the card came from julie.  I love how the hearts represent the bride and groom.

Here's what I used:

Hearts cut out on the Silhouette
Rollagraph wheel for the brides heart
Cuttlebug folder
Gold mirror card
Sentiment done on the computer
Beads and gold rings from stash
