40 Today

A card for a friend celebrating the Big 40. This is one of my favourite Bellas, I've coloured her with a mix of Faber Castell pencils and Whispers Brush Markers. The paper is PP (can't remember which set, think it may be Lola's Boudoir. I've used my SU scalloped punch and SU flower punch. The smaller flowers are Carla punches and EK Success. The sentiment was done on the computer. Ribbon and crystals from stash. Hope you like her. X

Birthday Wordbook

Hi fellow bloggers, sorry I haven't been around much lately. With spring arriving I have been spending alot of time in the garden preparing for the lovely summer I have my fingers crossed for this year. My baskets are planted up and doing nicely (bit of a chore though bringing them inside every night to protect from frost) and everything is looking beautiful.

I found the template for this wordbook in a little craft shop near Stratford and the samples they had on show convinced me I needed one. The company that makes them is called 'Colour My World' and they have several different templates. I have to say that although I enjoyed doing it, it took a long time to decorate the inside and out. As you can see, there's plenty of space for photos and messages to make a lovely keepsake for a special birthday. The paper is from HOTP , the punched shapes have been done with paddlepunches and I used Bind it All wires to keep the pages together. I'll be busy trying to catch up with you all soon. X

Acetate Box

I found this great acetate box here on the Splitcoaststampers website, so I decided to have a go and make 4, one for each of my nieces. It's a first attempt and as I was short of time to get all four done I was quite pleased with how they turned out. I will definitely make some more of these but fancy them up a little bit. I've filled these with jelly beans, but you could fill them with all sorts, the possiblities, as they say, are endless.
The sentiment stamp is from my new SU set, SU Scallop edge punch, papers are HOTP and I used a variety of punches from my stash for the flowers and butterfly.
I'm off to Kent very shortly with my other two sisters and mom to visit our sister. We are staying in a caravan so I'm hoping the weather improves (looking at the weather forecast this morning the rain clouds are directly over where we are staying, boo hoo).

I will catch up with everyone when I get back. Have a good weekend.X

Friday Sketchers 47

I'm on a roll this week, three cards for three different challenges. I do love being on holiday! This one is for Friday Sketchers challenge 47. It's a great sketch from Jacqueline, and the sponsor this week is Stempelstudio who are offering a great set of stamps called 'Farm' from the Greetings Farm as a prize.

For this card I used:

SU Paper & cardstock and sentiment
HOTP Swirls stamp
Sugar Nellie Image stamp
Sizzix Frame
Faber Castell watercolour pencils
Ribbon from stash
Handmade roses

I did a bit of distressing around the edge of the paper using Walnut Stain distress ink from Rangers and added some liquid pearls around the frame.

Marshmallows and Chocolates

Cute Card Thursday have some fab High Hopes stamps to give away to the lucky winner of this week's challenge which is called Marshmallows and Chocolate (ohh doesn't that make your mouth water?). All you have to do to enter is make a card using the colours pink and brown. This is my card, I used:

Pink Petticoat papers
Stampin Up cardstock
Penny Black stamp
CCSR sentiment stamp
Faber Castell watercolour pencils
Prima flowers
Sizzlit swirl die
Spacers from stash

As you can see I have dug out my paper pricking bits again for the corners of the white card and striped paper. The layout is from a sketch I found on the Splitcoaststampers forum.

The Easter weekend is almost upon us, so if I don't manage another post, hope you have a lovely weekend and loads and loads of lovely chocolate! x

Papertake Weekly Challenge - Dawnys Sketch #12

I love the simpleness of DawnyP's sketch for this week's Papertake challenge, sometimes I get a bit overwhelmed by all the layering which needs lots of paper matching and other bits and pieces added all over the place. This one I could just get straight down to and actually produce a card in record time!!!

For this card I used:

Background paper - K&Co
Other CS - Stampin Up
Image - Panduro
Sentiment - Studio G
Faber Castell watercolour pencils
Other bits and pieces from stash

I really wish I had coloured her dress with blues and greens rather than pink and purple, I think it would have gone better with the background paper, never mind too late now.
I did some paper pricking (which I find quite theraputic, mindlessly pricking holes into card, bit sad I know) around the main image and also on the three strips, just for a bit of added interest. Thanks for looking and please leave a comment so I know you've been.x

Lilac and Blue

Colour Create have a lovely colour combination challenge this week, Lilac and Blue. As the blog has reached 10,000 hits there is some fabulous blog candy to be won, including some fab Miss Anya stamps I really had to get cracking to get a card do to get an entry in before Sunday. This is my card, unfortunately without the additional option of ribbon and swirls (I thought they would be a bit to much on this card).

As you probably know, if you have seen any of my previous posts, I'm a real fan of Clarity Stamps and this is one of the three fab ones I bought at the NEC. I think she's so elegant, I'd love to wear an outfit like hers, not that I have the figure for it these days.lol. I masked of the two edges and used my new rollergraph to add the leaves (I used a Versamark inkpad and some Detail embossing powder and then did some direct to paper with the lilac and blue inks to give a resist look). I stamped the image and coloured with the same inks and then matted onto lilac and then blue SU cardstock. I wanted a different shape card for a change, so cut a strip off the front edge of the card and added a strip of matching card down the side.

I finished by adding a sentiment which is by HOTP, a few crystals and Prima flowers from my stash.

Hope you like it. x
